Hedge fund Verition parted company with 5 macro traders, and hired someone new

Verition, the friendly multistrategy hedge fund might be friendlier than some of its rivals, but this does not mean that everyone stays. Verition trimmed a trading run by two Goldman Sachs traders at the end of last year. It trimmed Damien Couture in July. And now at least five other people have gone, of their own volition or not.

Verition declined to comment for this article, but multiple sources tell us that three ex-Nomura rates traders who joined in 2022 have left, as have a former Brevan Howard portfolio manager and an ex-UBS STIR trader.

The departed Nomura traders are Stanley Sun, Will Hirschmann and Grant Web. It's thought they were in a macro/relative value pod based in New York. We messaged Sun and Hirschmann for this article; neither responded.

The ex-Brevan leaver is Ken Wang, a rates and relative value trader who joined in 2024. Wang also didn't respond to a request to comment.

Meanwhile, James Regan, a former head of G11 STIR trading at UBS in London who joined Verition in 2024 and left in July 2026, has just turned up at Millennium in New York.

Verition is also thought to be in discussions with Dubai-based Antonio Belgioioso, a top Italian macro trader who joined the firm from Goldman Sachs in 2025. It's not clear whether Belgioioso also intends to leave.

While there have been departures, there have also been arrivals. In London, for example, Verition has just hired Chris Telfer, a macro credit portfolio manager from Athlone Investment Management. Verition recently expanded into Eisler Capital's empty office space and so has many seats to fill.
