Meet the COO who swapped DBS for OCBC
OCBC Wing Hang has appointed Frances Hui as its chief operating officer.
Hui joined the Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Singapore’s second-largest lender earlier this month, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She was previously with DBS, having been its Hong Kong COO of consumer banking and wealth management since January 2019.
Prior to that, Hui spent more than 12 years at Hang Seng Bank, holding multiple senior leadership roles, including head of business performance. She was most recently chief operations officer, managing more than 200 staff.
As well as Hong Kong, OCBC Wing Hang Bank also has branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Tianjin, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Qingdao, Shaoxing, Suzhou, Zhuhai and Foshan.
Both OCBC and DBS are expanding their Greater China businesses. For the first half of this year, OCBC made a profit before tax of S$741m in the region, or about 22% of its total profit
DBS has also been hiring in Hong Kong. As we were the first to report earlier in September, DBS Asia Capital, the Singaporean firm’s capital markets arm in Hong Kong and China, recruited financial-sponsors veteran Lindsay Chu from Nomura as a managing director.
