Hedge fund ExodusPoint parted company with a senior portfolio manager who is going elsewhere

Mirco Bulega has gone from ExodusPoint. The former European economist at Credit Suisse and macro portfolio manager at Alphadyne Asset Management, is understood to have exited the fund. It's thought that he has something else lined up.

ExodusPoint declined to say anything for this article and Bulega didn't respond to a request to comment. Bulega joined ExodusPoint in London in July 2022. In July 2023 we observed that he was making some big hires for his pod, including Jacques Mouawad from Morgan Stanley, Vittorio Martino from Deutsche Bank, and a junior named Vladimir. It's thought they're still there.

Bulega is understood to have made a small loss during the volatility of March after years of positive returns. He is thought to have lined up his exit well before March. However, there are well documented perils of joining multistrategy hedge funds during difficult markets given the sector's notoriously low tolerance of drawdowns.

It's not clear where Bulega is going next, but it's thought that he may be launching a new macro platform somewhere else. Maybe he's having a summer off first.
