19-year veteran leaves Standard Chartered in Singapore
Shirish Wadivkar, Standard Chartered’s Singapore-based global head of payments, has joined SWIFT as a managing director and global head of wholesale payments and trade strategy.
He started his job in the Singapore office of the global payments giant earlier this week, according to a post on his LinkedIn profile. Wadivkar wrote that he is excited to be joining SWIFT’s strategy leadership team and to help drive its mission to “enable instant and frictionless payments across the world”.
Wadivkar had been with Stan Chart since 2003, latterly covering “all payments value propositions” – such as currency clearing and digital payment rails – across sectors including commercial, corporate, financial institutions, and fintech.
Wadivkar, who has an engineering degree from the University of Pune, began his Stan Chart career as a product manager in India, and also worked for the bank in Africa as regional head for deposits and premium banking.
He made managing director in 2012 as the Singapore-based global head for payables and receivables, cash management.
