McKinsey man joins Standard Chartered Singapore as MD
Standard Chartered’s penchant for hiring from consultancy firms to fill Singapore-based strategy roles – which we first noticed more than three years ago – shows no signs of abating.
Among the latest consultants to join Stan Chart in the city state is Lit Hau Tan, who previously spent about nine years at McKinsey & Company in New York and London, latterly as an associate partner, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to McKinsey, Tan worked as a trader at UBS between 2007 and 2011.
Tan is now a managing director at SCB, focused on growth, strategy and business development in transaction banking and B2B payments.
Unlike other global banks, Standard Chartered bases many of its divisional leaders in Singapore, so the Republic is also a natural location for its senior strategy roles.
For example, Pierre Paoli, Stan Chart’s global head of business development, works from Singapore and was hired from Boston Consulting Group.
In a similar vein, SCB has also been recruiting for digital transformation roles to sit close to its business in Singapore. Earlier this year it took on Aniruddha Paul, ING’s chief data officer, as global head of enterprise transformation.
