DBS managing director departs for consultancy
Tommy Ong, a DBS managing director in Hong Kong, has left the bank after more than 13 years. Ong was regional strategist, wealth management solutions, in the treasury and markets division.
Ong was also one of DBS’s most high-profile Hong Kong-based MDs and a regular media commentator on Greater China markets. Earlier this month he set up T.O. & Associates Consultancy Limited and is now its managing director, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He began his career in trading career back in 1991 at JP Morgan in Singapore, before moving to Citi four years later at vice president level.
In 2000, he started an initial five-year stint at DBS as a senior vice president in treasury and markets. He then return to Citi in 2005, this time as a director in the private bank’s ultra-high net worth segment, responsible for all capital market advisory activities to North Asia clients.
Ong rejoined DBS in 2008 as managing director, and head of wealth management solutions, Greater China, treasury and markets, responsible for investment products distribution to wealth clients in that region.
