Clinical NED/ANED
South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking an outstanding individual to join its Board as a Non-Executive Director or an Associate Non-Executive Director at a pivotal moment in the organisation's development. This is an opportunity to influence the future of a leading NHS provider that serves 1.2 million people across Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth, delivering vital mental health services to more than 20,000 individuals at any one time.
The Trust is recognised for its commitment to innovation, inclusion and excellence, supported by a dedicated workforce of around 2,900 staff across more than 120 teams. It has a strong track record in delivering high-quality care, currently rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission, with clear ambition to achieve 'Outstanding'. Its mission, "Making Life Better Together," is at the heart of everything it does and guides its transformation of services and continued investment in new facilities, research and partnerships.
The Trust is looking to appoint a clinical Non-Executive Director to its board, with a background in psychiatry, psychology, or as an allied health professional, who will strengthen the Board's oversight of quality, patient safety, clinical effectiveness and patient experience. The role could also be an Associate Non-Executive Director position, offering a developmental opportunity for individuals to gain experience of working as part of a unitary board in a complex and values focused environment.
Successful candidates will bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and the confidence to challenge constructively while building strong relationships. A genuine commitment to tackling health inequalities, promoting inclusion and advancing compassionate leadership is essential. The Trust is particularly keen to hear from individuals from under-represented groups and welcomes diverse perspectives that will enrich Board discussions and decision-making.
This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a progressive, inclusive and ambitious organisation that is transforming mental health services and making a meaningful difference in people's lives.
