Chief Medical Officer
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) is the UK's largest orthopaedic hospital and a globally recognised centre of excellence for musculoskeletal care, research and innovation. We are seeking an exceptional clinical leader to join our Board as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and help shape the next chapter of our organisational journey.
The Left Shift and the Ten Year Plan offer significant opportunities for the Trust, and the role will be a key part of work to transform clinical pathways through greater use of digital innovation, virtual care, local diagnostics, and multidisciplinary models that bring care closer to patients. Alongside this, the role offers the chance to build and strengthen medical leadership across the organisation, developing the next generation of clinical leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared purpose, and ensuring medical teams are equipped to lead transformational change with confidence and credibility.
As the Trust's most senior doctor and a member of the Executive Board, you will provide visible, values-led leadership for medical, and scientific staff while sharing collective responsibility for the quality, safety, performance and long-term sustainability of the organisation. You will co-lead the clinical effectiveness, patient safety and governance agenda with the Chief Nurse, act as Responsible Officer, and play a pivotal role in driving clinical transformation, innovation and digital optimisation across the Trust.
We are looking for an outstanding clinician with significant consultant-level experience and a strong track record of senior medical leadership. You will bring credibility, strategic insight and proven experience of leading change, improving quality and outcomes, developing medical leaders, and working effectively across complex health systems.
This is an exceptional opportunity to influence the future of one of the world's leading specialist hospitals as we continue to modernise services, optimise our Epic electronic patient record, strengthen clinical pathways and deliver world-class patient care.
Join us and help deliver the best patient care and staff experience in the NHS while shaping the future of specialist orthopaedic healthcare.
