Job Description

The Manager, Shipping manages and oversees the day to day functions of the site's shipping department including inventory management, warehousing and distribution of materials. This position is accountable for meeting customer packaging specifications and the accuracy of shipping documents.

Essential Job Functions:

• Managing shipping operations and customer instructions on release dates, delivery specifics and hacking details and forwarding relevant information to Sales and Accounting team(s) on shipment of goods
• Managing order shipment accuracy by checking orders against vendor invoices and bills of landing
• Managing the inventory control of finished goods
• Leading, developing and coaching shipping team by performing quality observations and identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous process improvement to attain key metrics through LEAN principles; working with management peers to help develop and maintain a positive work environment for all

Scope of Responsibility

The Manager, Shipping is responsible for planning and managing of shipping operations. This position is also responsible maximizing productivity by identifying and implementing process improvements to eliminate waste and achieve corporate and plant plan objectives.

Decision Making

The Manager, Shipping receives general instruction, analyzes work, and determines action to be taken within standard practice and procedure.

Authority

The Manager, Shipping receives general direction, planning own work and requesting guidance when situation deviates from objectives.

Education / Skills / Knowledge

• Requires B.S. Degree in Business, Logistics or related fields
• Requires computer operation skills including MSOffice and Oracle ERP accounting system
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience in working towards Lean production
• Knowledge of supply chain programs (Campaigns, Rhythm Wheels, Advanced Supply Chain Planning, Finite Scheduling) and ability to manage project execution of these programs
  
  Work Experience
• The Manager, Shipping requires five (5) - eight (8) years of professional experience in shipping and/or warehouse management.
  
  Physical and Environmental Requirements
• Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time standing, sitting, talking and hearing and using hands/fingers to handle and/or feel; and less than 1/3 of time walking.
• Lifting: Requires lifting up to 50 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
• Vision: Requires accurate close, distant, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
• Environment: Requires more than 2/3 of time in a factory setting.
• Noise: Requires working in factory conditions.
