Staff Accountant
Position Summary
Monthly management accounts Local and US GAAP - To prepare reliable, timely and complete monthly management accounts in PeopleSoft for the assigned EMEA legal entities under Local and US GAAP within maximum 5 calendar days after month-end.
Periodic statutory and regulatory returns - To assist with preparation of annual financial statements, VAT returns, and review CIT return prepared by the external accountants. Assist with preparation of regulatory returns. To prepare the audit file as required by Manager and statutory auditors.
Budgeting and Forecasting - Assist the Manager with the preparation of the draft budgeting and re-forecast reports (current and next year) on a quarterly and annual basis.

Primary Responsibilities
Monthly management accounts local/US GAAP
- Prepare monthly management accounts to include full substantiation of the balance sheet and income statement accounts and in particular bank, VAT, CIT and other taxes reconciliations
- Bookkeeping - Prepare and post journals into the PeopleSoft General Ledger. To include revenue accounting, accruals, prepayments, bank, fixed assets, taxes
- Accounts Payable - review and approve invoices in timely manner
- Accounts Receivable - raise recharge invoices
- Prepare reconciliations on OneStream under US GAAP accounting standards.
- Prepare Month-on-month variance analysis and variance to budget/forecast
- Prepare the FAS109 quarterly draft reports for review
- Coordinate with US Corporate Accounting, Tax and Equity team on monthly close matters
Periodic statutory returns
- To prepare the Trial Balance, VAT, CIT or other data feed and coordinate with the external accounting firms in order to get the statutory financial statements, VAT, CIT and other tax returns externally prepared under local GAAP and tax requirements in a timely manner.
- To assist in the preparation of FCA and other regulatory returns
- Assist with reviewing the work done by the external accountants
- Coordinate accounting, tax returns and related payments matters with external accountants, AP team and EMEA Office Managers
- To assist in preparation of financial statements for audited and non-audited entities
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist with the preparation of the draft budget and forecast reports (current and next year) on a bi-monthly basis
- Coordinate with EMEA Office Managers to collect data in this respect.
- Assist in the preparation of draft budget and forecast reports
- Prepare monthly cash request to settle intercompany balances.
- Prepare the Office of National Statistics (ONS) quarterly surveys
Other ad-hoc projects and requests
- Assist senior team in various projects ( e.g. setting up new entities, opening/closing bank accounts, preparing financial projections, etc)
Requirements
Education & Certificates
- Accounting, Finance or other relevant degree; or
- Part qualified CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years accounting experience in a similar position
- Experience within financial services sector desirable
Competencies & Attributes
- US GAAP, UK GAAP / IFRS as well as capacity to quickly understand the differences of the various local GAAPs under which the statutory accounts are prepared
- Excellent communication and coordination skills - both written and oral
- Ability to transact business in multiple countries and currencies
- General Ledger / Financial System experience and strong Microsoft Office skills in particular Excel
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team
- Intellectual curiosity / Pro-active in addressing the accounting, tax or legal issues
- Willingness to learn, develop and ask questions
- Ability to take initiative
- Total flexibility in adapting to a fast-changing environment
