CBA's Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital raising, transactional, and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing equities, markets, lending, and transaction banking execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with business customers.



Global Payroll as part of HR is accountable for accurate, compliant pay and reporting across CBA's Australia, India & international payrolls, and for strengthening controls and service delivery. The function sets clear priorities, makes risk-based decisions and partners with HR and change teams to simplify processes, improve self-service and introduce automation where it reduces effort and errors.

Global Payroll - pay our people accurately to support their financial wellbeing. This role is part of the Global Payroll Team and operates within an outsourced payroll model. The team, based in London and New York, consists of the Payroll Lead US, UK & NV and two Payroll Managers.



This role reports to the Payroll Lead - US, UK & NV and works closely with the Payroll Managers, HR teams, Finance teams, and the external payroll provider.




Do work that matters:



  • Provide administrative and coordination support across each payroll cycle, ensuring payroll inputs are accurate, complete and submitted within the required timeframes.

  • Coordinate the collection, validation and maintenance of payroll-related employee data, ensuring changes are processed accurately and supporting payroll data integrity.

  • Assisting with the investigation, escalation and resolution of payroll queries, discrepancies and exception where appropriate

  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation, ensuring payroll information is managed in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.

  • Support the administration of employee benefits and pension schemes, including enrolments, opt-outs, contribution changes and liaison with external providers.

  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll administration enquiries, supported by the wider payroll team to provide timely, support to employees, managers and key stakeholders

  • Prepare payroll documentation, reports and reconciliations, supporting payroll accuracy, compliance and audit requirements.

  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding and employee lifecycle changes by coordinating payroll-related documentation and ensuring employee records are updated accurately.

  • Support compliance with UK payroll legislation, GDPR, internal controls and organisational policies through accurate record keeping and effective administrative practices.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline payroll administration processes, improve documentation and enhance service delivery.




We are interested in hearing from you if you have:



  • Experience in an administration/coordination role; previous experience in Financial Services or Banking will be highly regarded.

  • Understanding of payroll principles, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and employee benefits are desirable but not essential.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage highly confidential information accurately and discreetly and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with confidence working with payroll data, reports and spreadsheets.

  • A proactive, collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn, take initiative and contribute to continuous improvement.

  • An interest in developing a career in Payroll and to gain experience and knowledge in lesser known payroll and benefit areas.

  • Basic understanding of risk management and compliance requirements, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and control.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, currently or with an interest in pursuing CIPP or further payroll qualifications is desirable.

  • Sound Excel skills for data collation and analysis activities.
