This incumbent will support Cyber Defence Engineering (CDE) managed applications. The individual will ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence across security platforms through proactive monitoring, incident response, automation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include building automated workflows, improving system observability, resolving production issues, maintaining security compliance, and supporting infrastructure resilience activities such as patching and disaster recovery.

Job Summary
This incumbent will support Cyber Defence Engineering (CDE) managed applications. The individual will ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence across security platforms through proactive monitoring, incident response, automation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include building automated workflows, improving system observability, resolving production issues, maintaining security compliance, and supporting infrastructure resilience activities such as patching and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability Engineering & Automation
- Develop automation to reduce manual operations, improve system availability, and optimize runbooks.
- Implement self-healing workflows and automated remediation for recurring issues.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive long-term reliability improvements.
- Enhance asset reconciliation accuracy through automated discovery and validation.
- Implement and maintain monitoring dashboards, alerts, and health checks for CDE-managed applications.
- Respond to incidents, triage production issues, and restore service rapidly while maintaining communication with stakeholders.
- Improve alert quality, reduce noise, and ensure actionable monitoring.
- Diagnose application, and network issues across production and non-production environments.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity platforms, engineering teams, and vendors to resolve complex issues.
- Provide technical support for integrations, configuration dependencies, and system performance tuning.
- Execute BAU changes securely and ensure adherence to CIS baselines and organizational security standards.
- Manage certificate renewals, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening.
- Optimize platform configurations to improve performance, security, and reliability.
- Manage patching cycles, maintenance windows, and application lifecycle activities.
- Maintain and update knowledge bases, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and SOPs.
- Ensure backup integrity and readiness for disaster recovery.
- Participate in DR testing exercises, simulate failovers, and validate application recovery procedures.
- Track SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and key operational metrics (e.g., KORI).
- Build dashboards for log aggregation, application performance, and security posture.
- Provide periodic operations and improvement reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth service delivery and platform stability.
- Manage expectations proactively with stakeholders during outages and maintenance.
- Provide on-call or after-hours support following the team's rotation schedule.
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity infrastructure and IT operations.
- Exposure to monitoring and security tools such as Splunk, SOAR, NDR, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with reliability concepts (SLA/SLO/SLI, incident lifecycle, automation practices) is a plus.
- Strong desire to learn how to troubleshoot distributed systems and security platforms.
- Ability to analyze patterns, identify root causes, and propose long-term fixes.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to produce documentation, runbooks, and RCA summaries.
- Prior exposure to cybersecurity operations or infrastructure support.
- Basic scripting skills (Python, Shell, PowerShell) for automation.
- Understanding of CI/CD, version control, log analytics, or cloud fundamentals.
