Manager, Facultative Reinsurance




Key Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and assess facultative reinsurance requests.


• Manage facultative reinsurance placements from submission through confirmation.


• Liaise with brokers and reinsurers on quotations, negotiations, terms, and capacity.


• Work closely with underwriting and distribution teams to support optimal risk placement.


• Monitor placement progress and ensure agreed turnaround times are achieved.


• Ensure compliance with reinsurer security requirements, internal governance, regulatory requirements, and LSR Scheme obligations.


• Prepare accurate management, regulatory, and operational reports.


• Lead process improvements and strengthen operational controls.


• Provide technical guidance and operational support to relevant teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.


• Relevant professional insurance qualification is preferred.


• Minimum 6-7 years of relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance, with strong experience in facultative reinsurance, commercial underwriting, or reinsurance broking.


• Proven experience managing complex, large, or non-standard facultative placements.


• Strong knowledge of facultative reinsurance principles, placement processes, policy terms, capacity management, and reinsurer security assessment.


• Experience negotiating with facultative brokers and reinsurers.


• Good understanding of insurance regulations, internal governance, compliance requirements, and LSR Scheme obligations.


• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.


• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.


• Experience preparing operational, management, and regulatory reports.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with insurance or reinsurance systems is an advantage.


• Leadership experience, including supervising teams, coaching staff, or driving process improvements, is preferred.


• High level of integrity, attention to detail, commercial awareness, and accountability.
