  • Support compliance with Japanese labor laws, social insurance requirements, and workplace regulations, while assisting with routine payroll processes and complex employee inquiries.
  • Partner with recruitment teams on job grading and workforce requirements, and support annual compensation reviews and employee engagement surveys.
  • Analyze exit interview feedback and relevant workforce data to identify employee engagement and retention trends.
  • Align local HR initiatives with business goals and use workforce metrics to support stronger engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with managers and employees as a trusted HR advisor, providing practical guidance across day-to-day people and organizational matters.
  • Act as a key bridge between Japan-based employees, regional teams, and global headquarters, supporting effective communication and cross-cultural collaboration.
Required Skills and Qualifications Experience:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, HR Advisor, or in a comparable HR role in Japan.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Japanese labor laws, employment regulations, social insurance administration, and workplace compliance.
  • Experience supporting performance management, employee relations, workplace investigations, and other HR advisory activities.
  • Experience partnering with managers and employees on complex or sensitive HR matters.
  • Ability to support HR operations while contributing to broader talent, engagement, retention, and organizational initiatives.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with employees, managers, and global stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee information and sensitive HR matters.
  • Ability to navigate complex employee relations issues with sound judgment and a balanced approach.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to operate effectively between Japanese and international teams.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced global organization.
Language Requirements:
  • Japanese: Native or fluent proficiency.
  • English: Business-level proficiency for regular communication with regional and global stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous HR experience within a global SaaS, cloud technology, IT, or fast-growing technology company.
  • Experience working in multinational or highly matrixed organizations across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Familiarity with modern HR platforms and workplace tools such as Workday, Culture Amp, and Google Workspace.
  • Experience supporting compensation reviews, employee engagement surveys, workforce analytics, job grading, or retention initiatives.
