We are currently hiring an AVP/VP AML System and Project for a fast-growing foreign bank.

Your new role

• Lead end-to-end transaction surveillance investigations, overseeing complex, high-risk, and sensitive cases with a risk-based approach.
• Detect and assess unusual transaction behaviours, suspicious activities, and emerging financial crime typologies through advanced analytical techniques.
• Leverage data analytics, network analysis, and link analysis methodologies to identify hidden relationships, complex money laundering schemes, and financial crime risks.
• Act as a subject-matter expert during regulatory inspections, internal audits, and independent risk assessments related to transaction surveillance and AML controls.
• Drive threshold tuning, scenario calibration, and optimisation initiatives to enhance alert quality, reduce false positives, and improve detection effectiveness.
• Partner closely with Group Compliance, Technology, Operations, and other key stakeholders to deliver strategic transaction monitoring system enhancements and transformation initiatives.
• Support the implementation, validation, governance, and ongoing performance monitoring of AI/ML-driven surveillance and suspicious activity detection models.
• Lead system upgrades, change management initiatives, UAT execution, and deployment of new surveillance scenarios and functionalities.
• Establish and maintain robust governance documentation, including system configurations, tuning rationales, model methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor surveillance system performance through data-driven metrics and provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Develop and utilise SQL and Python-based analytical solutions for data extraction, scenario testing, model validation, and management reporting.
• Stay ahead of evolving AML regulations, financial crime trends, typologies, and surveillance technologies to continuously strengthen the control framework.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Require 7-10+ years of relevant experience in AML Transaction Monitoring/AML Systems, within the banking industry. With a Big 4 background is an advantage.
• ECF-AAMLP certification or above is mandatory; CAMS or other recognised AML certifications would be highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated expertise in transaction monitoring system configuration, threshold tuning, scenario calibration, optimisation, and model governance.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with a strong ability to perform data analysis, scenario testing, and automation.
• With good communication skills. Able to liaise with head office and other business units smoothly.
• Fluent in Cantonese and English is a must.
