Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) is a team of over 190 professionals and is an integral part of CBA's Group Risk Function. FCC is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing governance of the Group's financial crime compliance program. This includes driving the Group's approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF), Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Anti-Tax Evasion (ATE) risks and obligations.
Do Work That Matters
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be part of a specialist engineering team reporting to the Chapter Lead, Data Engineering. While this role is focused on supporting CBA's New Zealand-based subsidiary (ASB), it operates within the broader financial crime advisory team.
In this role, you will support ASB in delivering technology and process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial crime detection and prevention capabilities. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and contributing to strategic reforms across financial crime risk management, including Australian reforms and AUSTRAC expectations.

In this role, you will:
- Support ingestion patterns that move scheduled extracts and upstream system data into transaction monitoring solutions.
- Work across Snowflake, dbt and IBM StreamSets to support cloud-to-on-prem data movement and transformation patterns.
- Build and support data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, data movement and associated testing.
- Help establish load assurance, data quality and data control patterns across the data flow.
- Partner with engineers, database specialists and delivery teams to support transformation logic, scripting and orchestration where required.
- Contribute to delivery outcomes where requirements may evolve across on-prem, Snowflake and Oracle-integrated patterns.
- Support practical, reusable engineering approaches that reduce friction and help teams deliver quickly and safely.

Are experienced data engineers who enjoy building reliable pipelines, working through complex data requirements and collaborating across technology and business teams. You'll bring strong data engineering foundations, practical delivery experience and the curiosity to work across both modern and existing platforms.
- Experience designing, building or supporting end-to-end data pipelines across ingestion, transformation and data movement.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud data platforms, ideally Snowflake.
- Hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation and modelling.
- Exposure to IBM StreamSets.
- Understanding of data quality, load assurance, controls and testing for data pipelines.
- Ability to work with ambiguous requirements, identify gaps and help shape fit-for-purpose data solutions.
- Confidence collaborating with engineers, SMEs and database teams to support delivery across different data patterns.
