Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of large-scale network infrastructure. Responsibilities will also include assisting in the maintenance of existing network infrastructure in Azure, multiple data-centers and customer facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining 24/7 mission critical WAN
  • Maintain mission critical Fortigate infrastructure, management servers and appliances
  • Build, maintain, troubleshoot and monitor all aspects of the Cisco network infrastructure (Router, VPN, Firewalls and switches)
  • Configure and maintain F5 Load Balancers
  • Review security logs and take appropriate actions
  • Update router configurations as necessary
  • Coordinate installation and upgrades of Corporate network nodes
  • Work with Data Center (ASP) to provide and manage internetwork connectivity
  • Work with Telco vendors and network providers
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to ensure highest possible network satisfaction
  • Proactively monitor circuit uptimes and utilization (T1/T3 and up)
  • Maintain knowledge of recent network security alerts and patches
  • Maintain up to date documentation and diagrams of ASP network
  • After hours and on call support when necessary
  • Document network build into Microsoft Visio
  • Ensure handbook and configuration form data is kept up to date
  • Manage private and public IP address space
  • Configure and maintain VPN tunnels
  • Continuously improve network

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Managers with the implementation of new customers and new services for existing customers
  • Develop process and procedures for new technologies implemented
  • Review current processes and procedures for enhancements
  • Assist other Senior Network engineers as required
  • Assist other teams as necessary


  • Minimum of 7 years telecommunications/network industry experience
  • Knowledge of Azure networking (NSG, virtual networks, etc)
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of Ciscos switches, routers and load balancing equipment configuration and monitoring
  • Knowledge of BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols
  • Knowledge of CPE MPLS configuration
  • Strong Knowledge of router and firewall terminated VPN configuration and monitoring
  • In-depth knowledge of network routers, switches and firewall
  • Requires strong knowledge of WAN communications hardware and software and network management software
  • Enterprise data center experience preferred
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented and meticulous individual, who can adhere to departmental process and procedures and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to multi-task and manage changing priorities to meet demands of internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork through collaborative behavior and open communications
  • Ability to define and/or refine processes to benefit the team and customers
  • Excellent analytical, communication (verbal and writing) skills; process-oriented
  • Knowledge of packet sniffers/tcpdump and ability to read information from packet captures
  • Knowledge of cabling standards and ability to properly manage cable infrastructure
