We are looking for a Junior level Infrastructure Engineer with knowledge of Unified Communications (instant messaging, voice, video, mobility etc) to work with us on one of the biggest transformation programmes in Europe, providing technology services that have far-reaching and pivotal roles in citizens' lives.

In BPDTS Ltd you will be part of an organisation responsible for the delivery of digital platforms and services, real-time analytics and flexible infrastructure, providing secure and resilient services to DWP. You and your role

You will join an established team of engineers at the junior level, and take responsibility for things like troubleshooting and designs. There'll be lots of chance to work closely with your more experienced colleagues, to learn from them and build your skills while you help deliver big things for us.

You will have the ability to translate your knowledge into the skills needed in unified communications products, working as part of a team and independently to deliver the best service possible.

We'll also support you with progression along a path to qualifications in appropriate products. We fully anticipate that this role will grow, and you with it, and take on more responsibility at a higher level. So you will be someone proactive with a passion to learn and to acquire knowledge and technical skills within an operational environment like ours.

What are we looking for?

You'll need to have knowledge of the capability and an appreciation of how the following technologies are used:

  • Cloud Skype for Business - Design, Build and Operate
  • On Premise Skype for Business - Design, build and Operate
  • O365 Mobile Applications Management including Skype for Business
  • Experience of acting as support for incidents, problems and changes to infrastructure solutions and services.
  • Monitoring of infrastructure services and alerts and taking appropriate action.
  • Stakeholder management skills, with ability to communicate effectively including directly with users and managers.


Desirable Skills - it's great if you've got knowledge/experience of these. Don't worry if not though, you'll have loads of opportunities to learn new skills like this here:

  • Microsoft Unified Comms Services - Design, build and Operate Telephony Integration with Skype via Enterprise voice solution
  • Microsoft Surface Hub Technology
  • Experience of Microsoft Exchange / Outlook within an operational environment
  • Experience of technical-change impacting and performing changes in a live service environment.
  • Office 365 administration
  • Admin skills in Office 2016, Office 2013 and Office 2010
  • Basic PowerShell
  • experience of Microsoft Server 2008/2012/2016;
  • Experience of design, support and administration of infrastructure solutions and services, physical or virtual, according to industry and organisational best practise standards and service requirements and KPIs throughout the lifecycle.
  • Experience in migrating users and data, on premise and into the cloud.
  • Experience of supporting services which are migrating on to a hybrid infrastructure
  • An awareness of ITIL

BPDTS Ltd provides dedicated services to the Department for Work and Pensions. Our digital, data and technology specialists work closely with experts in DWP Digital's community to make digital services quicker, simpler and more efficient for the millions of people that use them.
