Well Researcher

The Upstream well researcher role will be primarily responsible for data entry, maintenance and quality control of the well module within the S&P Global relational database (IRIS21) for the Northeast Asia region. This includes research and analysis and reporting of information relating to E&P wells. The role will be a key member of the Upstream Commodity Insights team and is required to also participate in data projects within the region of coverage.

Responsibilities and duties are:

• Well information processing, entry and validation in the IRIS21 database.
• Support sourcing process as required and adhere to data quality standards set.
• Manage historical well entries and maintenance in the database.
• Participate in data improvement projects through global, country, basin or area reviews conducted by the team.
• Generation of standard well sheets and reference maps to support upstream intelligence daily and monthly reports. Toward a monthly exploration report.
• Ensure consistency and alignment between the database modules and the upstream intelligence reports.
• Support country and regional experts in resolving client queries/requests relating to well data.

Qualifications and skills:

• Interest in managing and handling geo-technical information.
• Ability to convert complex technical information into a usable format for entry into databases.
• Good skills in computer usage (MS Office suite, web browsing, Windows).
• Basic knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) and mapping software (ArcGIS).
• Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
• Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
• Good team player and proactive behaviour. Work under direct supervision and within clearly defined guidelines of the team.
