HLB is embarking on a comprehensive multiyear regional organizational transformational journey encompassing products, channels and services across regional markets.

We are looking for talents with business transformation, strategy development, performance improvement and project implementation to lead business transformation initiatives. This is both a strategic and execution role with interaction at various levels from the C-levels to on-the-ground teams across HLB.

This role will be based in Damansara office and report to the Head of Department, Operational Excellence

Key Responsibilities:
  • Envision and formulate operational transformation strategies across branch, wholesale banking, retail, contact center and the associated omni-channel touchpoints (self service terminals, digital and mobility)
  • Responsible for project management, business & organization transformation, strategy planning & development, performance improvement, process re-engineering for bank-wide initiatives
  • Conduct in-depth studies supported by quantitative analysis and interact with stakeholders to build business cases and develop solutions to translate organization wide strategic direction into actionable and executable initiatives
  • Drive operational efficiency and effectiveness through the application of next generation technologies and thought leadership. This includes the use of cognitive computing like AI, machine learning, RPA as well as out of the box methodologies like design thinking and Lean Six Sigma
  • Provides understanding for applying industry standards metrics and how best to integrate these into channel operational architecture.
  • Supports project sponsors in managing bank-wide projects that incorporate transformational, practical and innovative solutions to address business challenges and in achieving organizational goals
  • Work and collaborate with cross functional departments and stakeholders to ensure the scope and direction of the initiatives are on track to deliver the envisioned strategic and operational benefits
  • Monitor the overall project progress and deliverables in meeting targets and deadlines. Assist the project sponsors in driving and project manage the delivery of transformation programs that enhances the business performance, operational productivity and processes
  • Ensure proper procedure and governance is in place during the entire project lifecycle
  • /Assist with monthly and quarterly business reporting to senior management.
  • Interact with all levels of management, including senior level decision makers and executives. Present analysis, projects, initiatives and reports to Head of Departments and senior management.
  • Be an excellent communicator, presenter and creative problem solver.
  • Any other duties assigned by superior.

Managerial (team/group responsibilities)
  • Provide guidance / coaching to stakeholders
  • Lead and facilitate interactive discovery and analytical sessions to understand business activities fully and provides statistical analysis of information to ensure validation and practicality of improvements
  • Demonstrate problem solving, leadership, stakeholder and conflict management, and team building skills in order to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of goals.

Organizational (organizational responsibilities)
  • Instill and practice the Bank's values and principles.
  • Continual progress in the innovation and contributing value-added service to the Bank.

Job requirements:
  • Degree with 5-8 years of working experience within project management, quantitative analysis, finance/banking operations or process improvement
  • Past experiences in management consulting, process re-engineering (LEAN Six Sigma) or project management. LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt certification is required
  • Good understanding of process mapping, cycle time study, identifying bottlenecks or root cause of issues and proposing optimal solutions that balances the rewards against the potential drawbacks in a holistic manner that is beneficial to the division and organization
  • Have strong logical thinking skills
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications especially Power Point and Excel
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written. Able to articulate analysis, findings and proposals clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment with diverse cultures and background
  • Good analytical thinker with attention to detail
  • Good understanding of process and change management
  • Able to perform work independently with minimum supervision
