Your Role and Responsibilities
Risk and Compliance Management Organisation has coverage across the following Competencies: SSO, R&CM, Security Services, EUS, Network Services.

The Client Security Operations Specialist is a support role and the related cost is in most cases included in the proposal to client. This role engages with the client, auditors, and the delivery environment. Client expectation is to have a counterpart with security skills to drive security issues and to be used as an escalation point for security matters. Within R&CM this responsibility falls with the Client Security Operations Specialist or Manager. If a Client Security Operations Manager is assigned to the supported account, the Client Security Operations Specialist will support the Client Security Operations Manager with discharging their responsibilities. If no Client Security Operations Manager is allocated, the Client Security Operations Specialist will be the single point of contact for the client and IBM. The role is needed to protect IBM and the Client from security threats and risks.

The role of Client Security Operations Specialist is to handle and govern security matters with the client and within IBM. If warranted a Client Security Operations Associate will be allocated to the account and will assist, at the direction of the Client Security Operations Specialist, with the discharging of their responsibilities in line with the Client Security Operations Associate job description. In this scenario the Client Security Operations Specialist has functional responsibility of the Client Security Operations Associate. This includes work allocation, training, coaching and oversight. If no Client Security Operations Associate is allocated to the supported account, the Client Security Operations Specialist will assume all the responsibilities of the Client Security Operations Associate job description.

The Client Security Operations Specialist works as a part of the Account team, receiving information from the Client Security Operations Manager or client directly to guide the DPE and IBM internal teams in relation to security processes and security tasks that need to be executed.
Attributes of this position include the following: Reporting & Accountability:This position reports directly to the Manager, Client Security Operations. The position functionally reports directly to the Client Security Operations Manager if a Client Security Operations Manager is allocated to the assigned account/s.

Position Summary:
  • The Client Security Operations Specialist assumes all of the responsibilities stated in the Client Security Operations Associate job description. The Client Security Operations Specialist either accepts those responsibilities directly when no Client Security Operations Associate is assigned or they accept functional responsibility over a Client Security Operations Associate when one is assigned and they accept the role of work allocation, training, coaching and oversight over the Client Security Operations Associate.
  • It is the Client Security Operations Specialist's overall objective to:
  • Assist the Delivery Project Executive (DPE) in achieving and maintaining compliance to the Client Security Policy and ensuring that all contractual security requirements are met.
  • Provide client interfacing management for contracted security services and account security management


  • Required Professional and Technical Expertise
    In addition to the Client Security Operations Associated job description skills, the Client Security Operations Specialist must;
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of business processes, tools, security, risk and policies and a broad background in helping others to interpret security requirements.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for regular interaction with peers, Cluster/Accounts, competencies, audit, client and senior management.
  • Writes clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to understand technical issues and provide an executive level summary.
  • Possesses strong project management skills and ability to plan and lead programs.
  • Leads root cause analysis leading to account changes that result in an improved risk posture.


  • Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
    Have security advisory experience, risk management, issue management and policy management.

    Good to have certifications:
    CISA, CISM, ISO27001 Lead Implementer or ISO27001 Lead Auditor.
