An exciting opportunity to work on high volume, low latency Liquidity systems

Senior Java Developer – Real-Time Liquidity Position Management

The Intraday Liquidity (IDL) Program is a firm-wide, strategic initiative to enhance the risk management, oversight, control and reporting related to JPMorgan’s intraday liquidity. The scope of the initiative is global, covering all business lines and currencies.  In support of this the Intraday Liquidity Platform provides real-time dashboards for J.P. Morgan senior executives (CEO, CFO, COO, and their directs) which visualize Cash, Credit, and Collateral balances & activity at the Firmwide, Line of Business and Institutional Client level.

The IDL Application Development project is recognized as a flagship JPMorgan project in terms of UI/UX standards, real-time analytics, and utilization of an Agile methodology in order to successfully execute a Continuous Delivery process, and as such the London Application Development team now requires a senior Java developer to participate in delivering new real-time data analytics and visualizations as part of the multi-year IDL Program.

Candidates will be expected to perform full-stack development of backend Java Services and the AngularJS/D3 User Interface, with additional requirements to expose data via the Tableau Business Intelligent platform for ad-hoc data analysis.  More specifically, the Intraday Liquidity platform continuously aggregates cross-asset class transactions and balances from multiple internal and external ledger, payment execution, securities settlement, credit utilization, and collateral management systems for both persistence into the Oracle Exadata Data Warehouse and for streaming to the end user Dashboards.  Follow on capabilities for 2017/2018 center around computing historical trend data in order to alert upon exceptional intraday behavior, forecasting of Line of Business & Client activity, and identifying inappropriate utilization of JPMorgan’s intraday liquidity.

The role will entail:

  • Working within an Agile Feature Team as part of a larger globally diverse delivery organization

  • Working directly with Product Owners to help refine and estimate stakeholder requirements into Epics and Stories for implementation

  • Execution of Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) together with Continuous Integration in order to produce a Production ready Release Candidate every four weeks.

  • The collaborative design of solutions in line with defined principles

  • Participation in a rota to provide 24/7 third line application support, and to perform weekend releases

Essential Technical Skills:

  • Excellent Java experience of developing multi-threaded, high-volume, event driven platforms

  • A thorough understanding of the Spring framework

  • A good understanding JMS and MQ Series messaging architectures

  • A good understanding of PL/SQL, and it’s appropriate use

  • Experience of utilizing development tools, such as:  Cucumber Acceptance Tests, GIT source control, Maven build configuration, JIRA/Greenhopper task tracking.

Desirable (but not essential) Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of payment and securities settlement

  • A good understanding of AngularJS / Javascript / HTML / CSS / D3 Charts

  • Implementing persistence with Oracle RAC and Exadata

  • Message standards: FPML, SWIFT, etc.

  • UNIX shell scripting.
